Ballet Summer IntensiveThese 2 one-week courses are designed to give both ballet dancers and choreographers a chance to study with a world class ballet faculty, and to develop ideas and concepts for choreography, using the professional ballet facilities at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Session I will be devoted to working on ballet technique and learning choreography, both existing and new. Session II will have the added component of a workshop for choreographers. Dates: Session I: June 14-19, 2010; Session II: June 21-26, 2010 Vocal Performance and Teaching WorkshopSinging and Teaching for a New Era: Using real time feedback and learning theories to produce efficient, effective teaching and successful singing. Dates: June 7-12, 2010 Clarinet Performance WorkshopAudition required. Work with three international performers/teachers in a hands-on approach to clarinet performance in today’s world, through a combination of master classes, group lessons and private lessons. Dates: June 11-15, 2010 Summer Kodály InstituteThis two-week institute offers musicianship and pedagogical training based on the methodology of Zoltán Kodály. Levels I, II, and III are offered. Four hours of graduate credit available. Dates: June 14-25, 2010 Natural Horn WorkshopThis workshop is open to professionals, students, teachers, and advanced amateurs interested in the natural horn. The schedule includes daily master classes, ensemble sessions, and lectures, as well as two private lessons during the week and an informal concert. Dates: June 14-19, 2010 Summer Percussion WorkshopThis intensive 6-day event will include master classes, clinics, and performances presented by internationally-renowned performers. Sessions will cover audition techniques, chamber music, sight reading, orchestral timpani and percussion, marimba, drum set, accessories, world percussion, career development, and much more. Dates: July 18-24, 2010 Retreat for Violin and Viola TeachersThis summer program gives string players and teachers the opportunity to participate in an intensive String Academy Pedagogy Workshop. Retreats will include lectures, demonstrations, and opportunities to observe master teachers in the Indiana University String Academy and world-renowned guest artists. Participants in The Retreat for Violin and Viola Teachers also have the opportunity to apply workshop principles through private lessons and master class performance opportunities. Dates: July 25-31, 2010 Fearless Audition Training for MusiciansThis workshop is open to professionals, students, and teachers interested in becoming fearless performers. During this four day seminar, participants will learn ‘fearless tools’ which build consistency in performing optimally in any situation. Training will take place in the environment that holds the most potential for a fearful experience – an audition! Dates: August 2010 (TBA) Summer Opera WorkshopThis workshop is open only to incoming, current and alumni IU Jacobs School of Music singers who need to learn their stage-craft and gain more confidence as singing actors. The workshop includes three days of exercises in acting and in stage movement and deportment followed by intensive rehearsals of the assigned scenes. Each singer will be involved in at least two scenes portraying contrasting character types. Dates: June 2010 (TBA) The Art of Playing the PianoEvelyne Brancart will share her concept of playing the piano through all the different aspects of Technique: Kinesthetic, Physical, Mental, Aural and Tactile. Part of the seminar will be dedicated to personal practical advice to participants on specific pieces, questions, or problems. Dates: June 26-30, 2010 |
